The centre-back was delighted with the huge win,
“They were coming off the back of a good result [2-0 against West Ham] last week and they are a very good team,” said Cahill. “Last season we didn’t beat Everton once in three attempts, so to take them apart was the most pleasing thing.”
“It was a devastating performance, one of the best I have been involved in, in a long, long time.
“When we won the title, I don’t think we won as convincingly as that against a side with the quality of Everton. I remember us beating Swansea 5-0 away (January 2015), but that was a case of us taking our chances in front of goal.
“Against Everton, the overall performance was really good as well as the goals, some of which were unbelievable. We are talking about doing it against a top quality side, a very tough team to face. I thought everyone from Diego Costa to the keeper Thibaut Courtois was fantastic.”
